The hotel is in the grounds of Trakoscan, once a residential castle (Latin "Arx Thacorum") surrounded by a Romanesque garden and lake and is presently an eminent museum. The castle complex receives over 200,000 visitors per year, making it the most visited in Croatia and the region. In particular, the distinctive feature of the castle is formed by a big artificial lake, about a mile long and a half mile wide and at a depth of just 2.5 metres which means the water is warm in summer at around 22 °C.

The hotel is located 40kms west of Varazdin on the border with Slovenia and surrounded by a forest rich with both flora and fauna and between the three mountains, Ravna gora, Maceljsko Gorge and Ivancica. In an environment exuding tradition and natural beauty, Hotel Trakoscan is located near one of the most beautiful, preserved Croatian castles.

Hotel Trakoscan features 128 spacious, modern designed rooms. All rooms have WC, bath, hairdryer, telephone, Satellite LCD TV, mini bar, air conditioning, safe, wireless internet. Each room has a view of the forest park and the beautiful castle. Some rooms have balcony. There are also family rooms and an apartment available.
