Berber Trails

4WD Safari in High Atlas

Summary

A wonderful opportunity to capture a totally different lifestyle; meet the Berber people whilst enjoying the dramatic countryside of the High Atlas.

Activity code: RAK4WD

Duration: 1 Day

Discover the original inhabitants of Morocco, the Berbers, as you travel in a 4WD across the rugged landscapes of the towering Atlas Mountains. Traverse the valleys up to summit of the mountains, and discover smiling faces, quaint villages and an ancestral lifestyle which people thought had disappeared long ago. Your 4WD lets you get where the large tour buses can't go. Nature rules supreme in these regions and dictates the existence of these tribal men and women. Depending on the season, you will discover lush slopes full of sheep or snow-covered summits.

This exhilarating journey takes you up through the Oued Zat valley, dominated by the Taska n'Zat, passing by ancient Berber villages, built of pise clawed from the mountain slopes, tucked away in arguably the most beautiful valley of the Kingdom of Morocco - the Ourika.

Far from the heat of Marrakech, take in the peaceful scenery all around as you enjoy lunch in the Kasbah of Ourika located in the famous Ourika Valley. Little walking is actually involved but you are free to explore for a while after lunch.
