Spend your days doing as much or as little as you please!

About Norway Self Drive 3 - Lofoten at Leisure

Activity code: NOFD03

Duration: 8 Days

START / FINISH - Svolvaer [also possible from Leknes or Narvik]

The Lofoten Islands are simply stunning in their dramatic beauty. Widely known for cod fishing the early Spring season can see hundreds of fishing boats from across the country descend on the islands. Much of the fish that is landed on the island can be seen drying on racks all over from March to May to produce the famous dried cod or "Bacalao".

Northern Norway is known as the land of the Midnight Sun so visiting in the summer months will bring an entirely different perspective.

You may wish to relax and explore the incredible landscape, visit one of the many interesting museums or art galleries, stroll through old fishing towns like Henningsvær, Nusfjord, Reine or Å or go for a more strenuous hike. If the weather is fine perhaps a picnic or even a swim at one of the fantastic uncrowded beaches.

You could extend your holiday by visiting the less known Lofoten Islands Værøy and Røst or with islands Vesterålen and Senja.

We offer rorbu accommodation and recommend staying:

  • 3 nights in Svolvær
  • 2 nights in Mortsund
  • 2 nights in Reine or Å

What's Included:

  • arrival transfer
  • mid-size rental car for 7 days on Lofoten
  • accommodation - 7 nights in total (as above suggestion)

Flights to the Lofoten Islands or to locations on the nearby mainland can be arranged as part of a fully bonded ATOL holiday itinerary - please ask for a quote.
