About Galaxidi
Galaxidi is a quiet port town not that far from Delphi.
This picturesque village dates back 4000 years and has resisted attacks from Franks, Catalans, Knights of Rhodes and Turkish pirates.
In the 19th century Galaxidi had a merchant fleet of more than 400 ships and the vast wealth accumulated during that time is reflected in the grand houses, once owned by the shipping magnates of whom no fewer than 60 lived in Galaxidi.
As well as being a relaxing and uncommercialised place to stay there are superb beaches near the town and a small port encircled by restaurants and friendly bars.
