Croatia - Three Centre Holiday

Dubrovnik, Hvar, Split - Classic version

About Croatia - Three Centre Holiday

Split, Dubrovnik and the Island of Hvar. A perfect introduction to Croatia and a great combination for a relaxing holiday on the beautiful Adriatic.

Activity code: CR3C02

Duration: 8 Days

START - Dubrovnik / FINISH - Split

This is one of our most popular holidays as it includes three of the best locations in southern Croatia. We can arrange this itinerary either on a self-drive basis or include door-to-door private transfers with inter-linking ferries & catamarans. There are also lots of optional extras to pre-book such as sightseeing excursions, activities, meals and spa treatments. A great introduction to Croatia....

Each of the two main journeys is not a long drive so you have plenty of time to enjoy the fabulous scenery and places of interest along the way. After an initial drive up the coast from Dubrovnik, travelling through the "Bosnia Corridor", you will reach the small port of Drvenik for a short ferry crossing to Hvar Island and then a stunning drive along the spine of the island to the lovely Hvar Town in the west. A relaxing morning with a visit to the castle leads to an afternoon catamaran directly from Hvar Town to the mainland at Split. You can choose to stay in either Split or Trogir because in the main season it is easy to travel between them on the local ferry across the bay. Once in Split you can explore the old city on foot, relax or perhaps take up the offer to do some rafting or the mulit-zip-wire experience in the Cetina Valley, near Omis.

** this holiday works equally well if you would like to travel in the opposite direction or if you wished to swap Hvar Island for one of its neighbours, such as Brac or Korcula instead.

Highlights of the Croatia Three Centre Holiday

  • Dubrovnik is the brightest gem of the southern Dalmatian coast and despite coming under attack in the Balkan wars of the early 1990s it is as delightful and full of historic treasures and atmosphere as it always was; described by George Bernard Shaw as "Heaven on Earth". One of the pleasures of a visit to Dubrovnik must surely be the walk around the city ramparts looking down at the narrow streets, churches and cafes as well as across the sea. Another wonderful vantage point is the view from the newly-restored cable car up to the nearby Srd peak.
  • Hvar is often referred to as the lovliest Dalmatian island and perhaps because it is the sunniest place in Croatia may have something to do with this. To add to Hvar's beauty there is an abundance of wild flowers such as lavender, rosemary and heather whose perfume adds something special to the island's atmosphere. Hvar Town is a small, charming harbour town set against a backdrop of steep hills with plenty of interesting Mediaeval buildings. Important sights in the town include the Renaissance Cathedral of St Stephen's, the Gothic Arsenal and the Venetian fortress at the top of the hill within whose walls the islanders fled for sanctuary during the invasion of the Turks in 1571. The view from the fortress offers a truly magical Mediterranean sunset.
  • Split is most famous as the location of the retirement home for the Emperor Diocletian. In today's Split there are two main squares, the Pjaca and the Peristyle which give the city of Split a stylish and laid-back sophistication. Sitting at one of the cafes lining the palm-shaded waterfront is an indulgent pleasure.

"I wanted to say thank you to you and Dawn for the excellent arrangements you made for our 3 centre trip to Croatia. Everything went smoothly and it was a pleasure not to have to worry about connections, ferries and getting to and from the airport. I just wanted to say a special mention to Villa Nora in Hvar which was outstanding. The room turned out to be a little 1 bed house with our own lounge to relax in. The two ladies who ran it were so helpful and friendly but it was the amazing breakfast that was the icing on the cake. Other hotels should send someone to stay there and see what can be offered. I can't praise it enough."

U Hedley, UK, June 2019

"I wanted to say an enormous thank you to you for making all my travel plans for my 3 centre holiday in Croatia. I had a great time in a beautiful, interesting country and all the arrangements for travel, transfers and hotels were perfect. Many thanks indeed for all your patience, help and attention to detail which ensured my holiday went smoothly and successfully."

A Pickering, UK, Sept 2018

"We thought Croatia was beautiful and had a great time. The Croatian people are very friendly and the country is so clean. The transfers were all punctual and organised perfectly - thank you. All 3 of the hotels were central which was important with young children. We would like to return to Croatia - Vis, Korcula and Brac next time. We ideally would like rooms with a sea/harbour view. Thank you for all your excellent planning. We will use you again!"

J Scally, UK, May, 2015

"Really pleased with the service from Andy at Rediscover the World. He listened to our requirements - put a suggested itinerary together. We refined our requirements, he adjusted, and I think we've ended up with a holiday that will suit us really well. I don't think we'd have found the hotel and resort we are staying at without him. Nice small hotel, family run, great reviews. I'll not want to book a holiday on my own again. I can see why people use travel agents now!"
