The Republic of Montenegro, newly created in 2006, is located in Southeastern Europe between Croatia, Albania and Serbia. The country's native name is Crna Gora, which translates literally to black mountain or black forest. Montenegro has an unbelievably beautiful coast on the Adriatic sea taking in the stunning Bay of Kotor and the Budva Riviera whilst a little way inland is Montenegro's largest city and capital, Podgorica. A large part of Montenegro is covered with mountains (highest - Mount Durmitor at 2,522 m) and thick forests with high peaks along its borders with Kosovo and Albania and a section of the Western Balkan Karst; some of the most rugged terrain in Europe.
Holidays in Montenegro offer such a dramatic contrast of locations for a small country so it is ideal for a fly drive, even over a short duration such as one week. There are many flights into Dubrovnik which is ideal for the Bay of Kotor and the Budva area of Montenegro's stunning coastline but there are now also flights directly to Tivat (near Budva) and you may even consider arriving on the fabulously scenic rail line from Belgrade which passes through Podgorica on its way to the coast at Bar.
We have travelled extensively in Montenegro over many years, since it was part of Yugoslavia, going back to the mid 1980s. This experience, together with the knowledge gained from frequent visits, enables us to provide you with the most up-to-date and fullest possible assistance in planning your ideal holiday - we can put together any tailor-made itinerary for you to suit most budgets. We are fully bonded (ATOL & TTA) and provide full financial security and assistance should any part of your holiday not happen entirely to plan. If you were to assemble your holiday yourself you may not have this sort of protection nor would you be able to benefit from many of our special rates.
Montenegro's magical scenery and legendary hospitality are unquestionably real, as you'll confirm when you have explored the country, still waiting to be rediscovered.
Where to visit
Kotor has a spectacular setting and offers historical sightseeing & superb countryside; the Bay of Kotor is often described as a fjord, you can see why with its narrow shape & steep sided slop ...
The National Park & mountain of Durmitor is a high plateau intersected by deep canyons. It is located in the north of Montenegro.
Lake Plav is located at the foot of the Prokletije mountain; nature has truly gifted this region with lakes, waterfalls, mountains and canyons - a remarkable region for outdoor activities.
Kolasin is located near the Biogradsko Gora National Park, one of three preserved virgin forests of Europe. It is considered an "air spa" due to its clean air & climate.
Budva is located half way along the short but spectacular coastline of Montenegro. It is an old walled town popular in high season for those looking for a quality resort with lots of atmosphere.
Things to do
A highly recommended taster of Montenegro; stay on the beach and in the mountains in one fabulous holiday. There is so much in between, too.
A holiday exploring this incredibly diverse country; using convenient flights into nearby Dubrovnik - visit National Parks & the Bay of Kotor.
"On the whole a great time in a beautiful country. We found it valuable that you have travelled Montenegro and have a good knowledge of the country. What to do and see was useful and did most of them. So happy with the service you provided."

"Utterly wonderful trip. It was a pleasure to use your services right from initial inquiry to the trip itself. Everything went so smoothly and easily, it was a very relaxing and existing trip in equal measure. The hotels were all very different to each other, but that is a strength, not a criticism. Nice to experience different styles. We would also like to comment on how amazing the Vamoos app is! It is by far the best way to travel, even down to using the downloaded maps for hiking trails in the mountains - they were as accurate as any map we could bit whilst there! The app just made everything so easy. The only point we'd raise is that the parking for Hotel Monte Cristo in Kotor is not where the map said. Apparently all the girls no longer use that car park, and instead each now has their own private, free car park. You provided the code for the barrier etc, but the directions provided currently go to the wrong car park. You just need to update your maps for that bit - hope that's helpful! REPLY FROM REDISCOVER THE WORLD: ........ [thank you for your note, we have updated the map location for this hotel's car park, our sincere apologies]"

"I just wanted to contact you to say what a fantastic holiday we had and to thank you so much for all your help in booking and sorting everything and answering all my queries. The Vamoos app was very very good and easy to use as well as being massively useful especially the maps when driving. The hotels were really well chosen and situated perfectly - we decided our favourite was the one in Kotor - the hotel staff were especially helpful and really nice. It all went very smoothly (husbands driving not so much at times!) and we thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. Thank you very much!"

"We had a fantastic holiday. Rediscover were superb from start to finish with their help and knowledge of where we wanted to visit as we didn't know the area. They answered all my questions and queries promptly and in detail and it really felt like the personal touch for our holiday. We would highly recommend using Rediscover. Thank you!!"

"Very pleased with trip and the use of the app (although struggled to download maps not sure why) hotels were all very different in character so contrast was good. Driving in Montenegro not for the faint hearted but the scenery and people we encountered along the way more than made up for this."

"We had a fabulous holiday. Everything worked out better than expected. We fully relaxed in the first part of our holiday in Budva and enjoyed the boat trip in the bay and the trip in the mountains plus fabulous views over Kotor Bay. Strangely one of our best meals in Budva was in the restaurant at the bus terminus as recommended in our guide book. Excellent food. Surrounded by greenery and fountains so could have been anywhere. The scenery and the alpine flowers were stunning throughout the trip. The weather was great and we enjoyed the beaches and swimming in the pools and the sea.... I would happily recommend your services. You responded quickly to all our enquiries and followed up to make our holiday everything we wanted it to be."

"As tonight is our last night in Croatia, I take this opportunity of thanking and congratulating you for a superb itinerary, excellent selection of good Hotels in prime locations and very efficient, punctual and courteous transfers. I am particularly grateful to Katarina of Amathus for her attention to detail which was exceptional. All tranfers were punctual with couteous drivers who were generally quite good with English language and local knowledge. Their driving was careful and cars in good condition. All Ferry trips enjoyable though rather crowded. .. Vamoos is a superb means of providing and updating information. This is the best system for this purpose I have experienced. Thanks for your organisation. Weather was excellent (virtually no rain and good temperature) and fewer number of other tourists at this times of year. Good to avoid Cruise Ships at Split and Dubrovnik. I would recommend your services to other potential guests for such trips."
